Rememeber for the NCLEX:
- Glaucoma: Loss of peripheral vision.
- Cataract: Loss of Acquity
- Retinal Detachment: Photophobia & visual field loss
Cataracts
– an opacity of the lens that distorts the image projected into the retina.
Assessment:
Blurred Vision
Diplopia
Glaucoma
– a disease resulting in an increased intraocular pressure
Intraocular pressure is the fluid (aqueous humor) pressure within the eye.
Normal Intraocular pressure is (10 to 21 mm Hg.)
There are three main types
Primary open angle glaucoma- most common and affects both eyes
Acute glaucoma- also called narrow angled
Secondary glaucoma- treat the underlying condition
